At Jupiter Gardens Press an editorial intern is an important part of our publishing process. An editorial intern works closely with the publisher and editing staff with the primary duties of pre-screening manuscripts and being our first reader. Additionally, an editorial intern may act as a final line editor, help with other miscellaneous projects, and in general, be a supporting asset to the publisher and editing staff.
Although this is an unpaid position, it does bring with it great rewards, including being able to see the publishing process from the inside and the opportunity for an exceptional intern to move into a paying editorial position.
The ideal candidate for this position will be fluent in the English language with an excellent grasp of grammar and punctuation, as well as strong story-crafting skills. An editorial intern must be a self-starter, with the ability to work with and meet deadlines. A team player is a must.
